1. Who We Are

The SelfCapital Network Platform (“Platform”) is operated by an individual trading under the name SelfCapital Network (“SelfCapital Network”, “we”, “us”, “our”), who is the data controller.

2. What Data We Collect

  • Identity & Contact Data: first name, last name, email.

  • Freebie & Email Sign-up Data: first name and email address provided when downloading free guides or resources, including PDFs delivered via email.

  • Payment Data: processed securely by Stripe; we do not store card details.

  • Billing Data: billing address (including country) collected during checkout via Stripe.

  • Educational Profile Data: age bracket (where provided) and internship or career stage (including early or exploratory stages).

  • Referral & Discovery Data (optional): information you may choose to provide about how you first heard about the Platform.

  • Usage Data: time spent on tasks, progress, scores, and feature use.

  • Technical & Analytics Data: IP address, device/browser information, and site usage patterns (via cookies and Google Analytics).

  • Error & Diagnostics Data: application error logs, crash reports, and related technical data (e.g., request details). Personal data is minimised or anonymised where possible.

  • CV / Resume Data: documents you upload as part of optional 1:1 resume feedback (e.g. PDF or Word files), which may include education history, work experience, skills, and other information you choose to provide.

  • Event & Cohort Application Data: information you provide when registering or applying for events, workshops, cohorts, or programmes (e.g. university, preparation confidence, time commitment, and written application responses).

  • Voice & Interview Transcript Data (Video Mode): When using this mock interview mode, your spoken responses are recorded via your device microphone to generate a temporary transcript for scoring and feedback. Raw audio is not stored. Transcripts are processed for scoring purposes and are not retained long-term.

We may also collect additional information you voluntarily provide (e.g., survey responses or feedback).

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide you access to the Platform.

  • To process payments (via Stripe).

  • To monitor progress and deliver feedback.

  • To monitor revenue by region and assess tax obligations (using billing country and revenue data in aggregated, time-based form, such as monthly totals).

  • To improve Platform features and content.

  • To send essential service emails (account access, payment receipts).

  • To deliver free guides or resources you request (e.g. PDFs sent by email), and related follow-up emails relevant to those materials.

  • To send marketing updates only if you have opted in via sign-up forms, account settings, or free resource requests. You are not required to opt in to marketing communications in order to create an account or use the Platform.

    • The consent statement shown in your account settings is: “Receive emails about our events, new features, updates, and offers.”

    • You can update your preference at any time in your account settings.

  • To analyse usage trends and improve our services (via Google Analytics).

  • To provide optional 1:1 CV / resume feedback services, including reviewing uploaded CVs and providing written feedback where applicable.

  • To monitor platform stability, diagnose issues, and improve performance (via Sentry error monitoring).

  • To administer events, workshops, cohorts, and application processes, including reviewing applications and communicating outcomes.

  • To process spoken mock interview responses and generate automated scoring and feedback (including structure and delivery metrics).

  • We will not sell your personal data, and it will not be used to train AI models.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Contract: providing the service you purchase.

  • Legitimate interests: maintaining and improving the Platform.

  • Consent: for sending optional marketing emails (“Receive emails about our events, new features, updates, and offers.”) and for placing non-essential cookies (including Google Analytics).

  • Consent also applies where you request free guides or resources and agree to receive them by email, along with related updates. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails.

  • Legal obligation: processing billing information (including billing country) may be necessary to comply with tax, accounting, or VAT/GST requirements.

5. Sharing Your Data

We may share your data with:

  • Stripe (for payment processing).

  • Third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI) to process transcripts and generate task feedback. These providers act as our data processors under Data Processing Agreements and do not use your content for training or for any other purpose.

  • Google Analytics (for site analytics and performance monitoring).

  • Cloud service providers (hosting and infrastructure).

  • Sentry (error monitoring): we use Sentry (EU region) to capture technical errors and performance issues. Diagnostic data may include error traces. Personal identifiers are scrubbed or pseudonymised before transmission.

  • Other service providers where necessary to operate the Platform, subject to equivalent safeguards.

We do not sell or trade your personal data.

6. International Transfers

If you access the Platform from outside the UK, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may not provide the same level of protection as your home country. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data Retention

  • We keep your account data while your account is active.

  • On account deletion, we erase or anonymise personal identifiers.

  • We may retain anonymised usage data at both an individual and aggregate level (not linked to you), including anonymised referral or discovery information provided during sign-up, after account deletion.

  • Payment and transaction data may be retained for as long as required by applicable tax or legal obligations.

  • Error logs are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

  • CV / Resume retention: Uploaded CVs and resumes used for 1:1 feedback are stored securely and deleted within 30 days of feedback being delivered, unless you request earlier deletion.

  • Email-only subscribers: If you have not created an account, we retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

  • Interview transcripts generated during mock interview mode are processed for scoring purposes and deleted after scoring is completed. Raw audio recordings are not stored.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data.

  • Correct inaccurate information.

  • Request deletion of your data.

  • Object to or restrict processing.

  • Withdraw marketing or cookie consent at any time.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Platform is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we learn we have inadvertently collected data from someone under 16, we will delete it.

10. Cookies

  • We use essential cookies to operate the site (e.g., login sessions, checkout). These do not require consent.

  • We also use analytics cookies (via Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our site and to improve performance. These cookies require your consent.

  • We use Cookiebot to manage cookie consent in compliance with UK and EU GDPR. When you first visit our website, Cookiebot will display a banner allowing you to:

    • Allow All

    • Allow Selection (Necessary, Preferences, Statistics, Marketing)

    • Deny

  • You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking “Switch” in our website footer’s bottom left. This will reopen the Cookiebot consent panel.
